Tips when becoming a certified business coach – Life coach training

The Multimillion Dollar Coaching Practice

Ryan: The business coach certification clients that I have not done very well with include solo entrepreneurs who are starting at Ground Zero and don’t have a baseline understanding of how to build a business.

There are too many things that I do well. (also known as swimming in the deep end of the pool) I do well at taking something from good to great. Not necessarily taking something from ground zero to moving. we are also advising our business coaches to work with existing businesses that are already profitable.

I have a lot of heart for taking people from scratch to making a living, but it’s really, really hard.

Ryan: people say the first million is the hardest to make, and the second million comes that much easier, and when you’re not there that doesn’t seem so believable. But once you’re there, and I’ve been there, it is the truest statement. It’s one of the truest statement I’ve heard in business. And it’s especially true of business coaching.

Making that first dollar online: I remember in my apartment, in Hong Kong, when the first e-book sold, I couldn’t believe it. My wife and I looked at each other, and we literally did the happy dance around the room. I know people joke about it, but we really literally did a happy dance.

And my immediate reaction was that I stood by the computer screen waiting for that person to refund! I knew it was the first one we had sold, but the customer just didn’t know that. And now we’ve sold over 100,000 copies of this particular e-book over the course of seven years.

The point is that the first sale is so difficult. The first thousand dollars is the hardest, and the next thousand comes that much easier.

So going back to lessons learned about business coaching and life coaching, it’s the same theme: Starting at first is the hardest part.

A good analogy is to think of a rocket launch. It takes tremendous amounts of power and energy to get the rocket off the ground into the lower atmosphere. Once the rocket is in the lower atmosphere it takes just a fraction of that power to get it into “Earth” orbit.

And business coaching and life coaching, just like physics, operates the same way.
